“I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”

About the book
Ascension Draws Near
Newly expecting and just married, Eve and Toby embark on a honeymoon as adventurous as their relationship, taking Toby’s plane on a month-long trip spent circumnavigating the US. The couple stops for fuel in the remote town of Brady, Texas, where Toby vanishes from the airport.
Eve’s search for Toby fails. Exhausted and vulnerable, she is taken in by members of a zealous cult who claim her arrival has been foretold. They insist Toby has abandoned her, but Eve refuses to believe it—until she is finally allowed a single satellite phone call. Only then does she hear the crushing truth straight from Toby: he intentionally left her behind. With Toby and his plane gone, and Brady deliberately isolated from the outside world, Eve has no choice but to stay. She becomes fascinated with the mysterious leader, Ekam, and her own royal status, ultimately finding herself comforted and welcomed by the doting community.
Eve’s enchantment with Ekam and the prophecy shatters when she witnesses the cult’s horrific rituals and uncovers their sinister designs for her unborn child. Desperately seeking answers, Eve unravels the tangle of lies surrounding Toby’s disappearance and discovers Ekam’s monstrous true identity. Now she must find a way to flee Brady, or surrender to the prophecy and accept her fate. With the impending birth approaching, Eve races against precious little time to save herself and her baby, each tiny heartbeat bringing them closer to a perilous reckoning.
